About

Good Baklava started as a joke and as a challenge.

Welcome to Good Baklava

Our mission is to spread Good Baklava to as many people as possible.

Why?

Because it's fun. It's fun to eat baklava, it's fun to make baklava, it's fun to sell baklava and it's fun to say baklava.

baa·Kla·Vaah

Not all baklava is created equally. In fact, there is a ton of bad baklava on the market. We stick to the core basics and essentials of Turkish Baklava. Why over complicate things with honey, weird spices, and crappy ingredients?

Good Baklava sticks to the 40+ layer of paper thin phyllo, Gaziantep pistachios, clarified butter, and a syrup of sugar, water and lemon. Simple and straight forward ingredients, with advanced technique.

What is funnier than baklava?

What is funnier than a kid from NJ slanging baklava while wearing a hot dog suit? Well, any things, but not everything!

Legal Hustle

Finally, its an honest and legal way to make a living in this tough world we live in. As a high school drop out, with no higher education, starting this project has proven that with enough dedication, grit, and passion, anyone can start a business.

Fully Committed To The Bit

Whether you're ordering for yourself, planning an event, or need a big batch for wholesale, we’ve got you covered.

Good Baklava is a committed to bringing you either the most memorable baklava and or the best baklava you have ever had. And yeah, we’re even working on opening a store!

The challenge was selling baklava

The challenge was selling baklava

It was night two of a Phish concert at Shoreline Amphitheater. After a wild first night, some new friends and I hit up a local Middle Eastern grocery store (which also had a burrito bar, because why not?). We were just messing around, and I joked about selling baklava. One thing led to another, and someone dared me to try selling it at the show. So, naturally, I grabbed a few containers and thought, "What’s the worst that could happen?"

The Joke Was Selling Baklava

Fast forward to the show. I walked up to some people and said, "Hey, want to buy some baklava?" The first question: "Is there anything special in it?" Nope, just good old baklava. And to my surprise, they bought two pieces for $5! A few hours later, I had sold out of all four containers and had $150 in my pocket. Not bad for a random idea, right?
